Who we are
1.1. The website trident-academy.com (the "Website") and the Trident Academy courses are operated by WISA PRODUCTS & SERVICES INTERNATIONAL - FZCO, a free zone company with trade licence no. 15116, issued by the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority, with registered address at IFZA Business Park, Building A1, Dubai Digital Park, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Trident Academy", "we", "us"). Trident Academy is a trading name of this company.
1.2. Contact: info@trident-academy.com.
Scope and acceptance
2.1. These Terms apply to every use of the Website, to the creation and use of an account, and to every purchase of courses or access made on the Website.
2.2. By registering an account or placing an order you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms, the Legal Notice, the Privacy Policy and the Cookies Policy.
2.3. If you use the Website on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
Account
3.1. To take a course you must register an account with accurate information and keep it up to date: your full name as it appears on your identity document (the Bilhete de Identidade for Angolan citizens; a national identity document or passport for everyone else), your email address and, when we ask for it, your date of birth. You may use a shorter form of your name (for example, leaving out some of your names), but every name on the account must appear on the document.
3.2. You must be at least 18 years old to register, or at least 16 years old with the consent of a parent or guardian.
3.3. Your account is personal. Do not share your login details or let other people use your account. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Tell us at once at info@trident-academy.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
3.4. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms (see section 9).
3.5. One account per person. Each person may have only one account, linked to a single email address. You may not create additional accounts or use another person's name, identity document or email address.
3.6. Identification. To earn points (XP), take part in the leagues, receive awards and receive certificates, we ask for your nationality, your identity document number and your date of birth and, where indicated, a photo of the front of the document (you may include the back as well). The Trident Academy team checks the photo: the name and date of birth on the account must match those on the document. If the date of birth you entered contains an obvious error, we may correct it to the date shown on the document. Each document can be linked to only one account. The photo is never published, and the document number never appears on certificates, rankings, emails or exports.
3.7. Deadline. When we ask for your identification, we give a deadline (normally 14 days). If you do not provide it by the deadline, you keep access to all your courses, but you stop earning XP, you are left out of the leagues and rankings, and your certificates are held; held certificates are issued as soon as your identification is approved. If the photo is rejected (for example, because it is not an identity document, shows only the back or cannot be read), you may send another one.
3.8. Duplicate accounts. We use technical signals (your name, a browser identifier and the sign-up IP address, stored only in encrypted form) to detect several accounts belonging to the same person. We may automatically block the courses and certificates of a suspicious account until the photo of the identity document is approved; the oldest account always stays active. If it is confirmed that the same person has several accounts, we will ask you to choose the account you want to keep; the others are closed and certificates obtained on them may be cancelled. If you do not reply by the deadline we give, we keep the account linked to the approved identity document or, failing that, the oldest account.
3.9. Another person's document. Submitting another person's identity document or false details is a serious breach of these Terms: the identification is rejected and the account may be blocked or closed (see section 9).
3.10. Employees enrolled through a company or a company academy, and Trident Academy team accounts, are exempt from the identification request.
Courses and prices
4.1. The courses are self-paced e-learning courses made up of narrated videos, interactive activities and assessments. The description of each course on the Website states its content and level.
4.2. Prices are shown in Angolan Kwanza (AOA) and the amount charged is the Kwanza price. Payment is made through WiPay (Multicaixa Express or another method available on the WiPay checkout).
4.3. Prices shown on the Website do not include taxes. Any applicable taxes are calculated and added at checkout, before you pay, and are shown separately on your order. Every order receives an order confirmation by email. Companies that pay by invoice and bank transfer receive an invoice. For any other order, you can request an invoice by writing to info@trident-academy.com.
4.4. We may change prices at any time. A price change does not affect orders already paid.
Purchase and payment
5.1. You place an order by adding a course to the cart, completing checkout and paying. The contract is concluded when payment is confirmed. We send an order confirmation by email.
5.2. Payments are processed by our payment provider, WiPay. Card details are entered on and processed by the payment provider; the Website does not store your card data.
5.3. If a payment is declined, reversed or charged back, we may suspend access to the related course until the matter is resolved.
Access period
6.1. Each course purchase by an individual gives the buyer permanent access to the course, with no end date, for as long as Trident Academy operates the learning platform. The same applies to a course assigned individually by Trident Academy.
6.2. Courses assigned by a company, including those made available in a company academy, remain accessible for the access period agreed with that company (for example, 12 months from the academy's activation) and while the learner is a member of that company on the platform. When that period ends, those courses can no longer be opened. Certificates already issued remain valid and verifiable (see section 11).
6.3. We may update, improve or correct course content at any time. If we withdraw a course you bought, you keep access to the version you bought where technically possible; otherwise, we will offer you a replacement course of equivalent value or a refund.
Free course (welcome trial)
7.1. Each new account receives one (1) welcome credit to take one Level 1 course of its choice free of charge, in the language of the site on which it is chosen. The credit is valid for 30 days from the date it is granted; if it is not used within that period, it expires.
7.2. The welcome credit is limited to one per person. Creating several accounts to obtain more free courses is not allowed; such accounts may be blocked or closed (see section 3).
7.3. Once chosen, access to the free course is permanent, the same as for a purchased course.
7.4. We may change or end the welcome trial offer at any time. This does not affect a free course already started.
Subscriptions and company access
8.1. Annual subscription (individuals). Where offered, an annual subscription gives access to the courses included in it for 12 months. The included courses, price, renewal and cancellation conditions are those shown at the time of purchase.
8.2. Company access. Companies and organisations can buy access for their staff, either per course or, where offered, through annual company access, with the price and conditions shown at the time of purchase or agreed in writing. The staff access period is the one agreed in the contract with the company (for example, 12 months from the activation of the company's academy).
8.3. HR manager. A company appoints one or more HR managers. An HR manager can invite staff, assign courses and see each staff member's progress and results on the company dashboard (see the Privacy Policy, section 5).
8.4. Company responsibilities. The company is responsible for:
(a) inviting only people it is entitled to enrol (for example, its own staff);
(b) informing its staff that their progress and results will be visible to the company; and
(c) using the information on the dashboard only for legitimate training and staff-development purposes.
8.5. Seats. Each seat bought by a company gives one staff member access to the course. A seat that has not yet been assigned stays available and can be assigned to any member of the company. Once a seat has been assigned to a staff member, it is used and cannot be moved to another person, including when that staff member leaves the company or has not started the course.
Acceptable use
9.1. You agree not to:
(a) share, resell or sublicense your access, or let others use your account;
(b) copy, download, record, screen-capture, distribute or publish course videos, texts, images, quizzes or other materials, except as the Website expressly allows;
(c) try to obtain answers to assessments by unfair means, have another person take an assessment for you, or obtain a certificate you have not earned;
(d) interfere with the Website, its security or its other users, or use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access it;
(e) upload or send unlawful, offensive or harmful content;
(f) use the Website in breach of any applicable law;
(g) create or use more than one account, or register with false details or with another person's identity document; or
(h) artificially increase your points (XP), your league position or your awards (for example, through several accounts or automated activity).
9.2. If you breach this section, we may suspend or close your account, cancel certificates obtained improperly and refuse future orders, without a refund for the affected access.
Intellectual property
10.1. The Website and all course content (including videos, narration, scripts, images, activities, assessments, logos and the "Trident Academy" name) belong to us or to our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
10.2. A purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to view the course online for your own learning during the access period. No other right is granted.
Certificates
11.1. When you complete a course and meet its pass requirements, you may receive a certificate of completion.
11.2. Each certificate has a public verification code. Anyone who has the code can check it on the Website's verification page, which shows the learner's name, the course and the date of completion.
11.3. Certificates confirm the completion of a Trident Academy course. The courses are educational and aligned with international standards, but they are not accredited and certificates are not a professional qualification, licence or official certification, unless the course page expressly says otherwise. See the Legal Notice for further disclaimers.
11.4. We may cancel a certificate obtained in breach of section 9.
11.5. The certificate is issued in the name on the account, which must match the name on your identity document (see section 3). While your identification is missing after the deadline, or while the account is blocked pending approval of the photo of the identity document, the certificate is held and is issued as soon as your identification is approved.
11.6. Certificates obtained on accounts closed as duplicates or with false identification details may be cancelled.
Points (XP), leagues and awards
12.1. XP. You earn points (XP) through your learning activity (for example, modules completed, assessments passed, certificates, days of study, course reviews and certificate shares). The scoring rules are shown on the Website and may be changed for the future.
12.2. Leagues and rankings. Every month, learners who earn XP are placed in league groups. In the Website's public rankings we show only your first name and the initial of your surname. You can hide yourself from the rankings and leagues in your account. Employees of companies or academies take part in their company's league.
12.3. Discount codes. At the end of each month we may issue personal discount codes for league results (for example, moving up a division or finishing in the top 3 of your group), subject to a minimum amount of XP in the month. Each code is personal, single-use, valid only on your account, for a course you do not already have, within the period stated, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
12.4. Monthly awards («Trident League Awards»). The 3 learners with the most XP in the month (overall podium) and the 1st of each group receive a recognition award: a medal (image), a «Merit Award» PDF diploma, a verifiable public page showing their name, and an email. The group award requires a minimum amount of XP in the month, set by us and shown on the Website; if nobody reaches it, the group has no award that month. A learner on the overall podium receives only the overall award, and their group award passes to the next eligible learner. Awards have no monetary value and are not transferable.
12.5. Who can receive awards. Only accounts with valid identification (see section 3) can receive the monthly awards, unless stated otherwise for a particular month. Team accounts, demo accounts, learners hidden from the rankings, learners excluded from the leagues and members of companies or academies do not receive these awards; in that case the award passes to the next eligible learner.
12.6. Abuse. We may remove XP, exclude an account from the leagues and cancel awards or codes obtained in breach of these Terms (see section 9).
12.7. Company referrals. Each learner may have a personal referral code. If a company you referred signs up for a Trident Academy academy and it becomes active, we may give you a reward (for example, an annual plan), on the terms shown on the Website at the time of the referral.
12.8. Inviting friends. You can invite friends and family with your personal link or by entering their email address (up to 5 a day). Only enter the addresses of people you know and who, in your view, will welcome the invitation. Each address receives a single invitation email and is never invited twice. You earn points (XP) when an invited friend completes their first module and when they earn their first certificate with approved identification, up to the monthly maximum shown on the Website; the friend also receives a bonus. There is no invitation XP for yourself, for duplicate accounts or for accounts that share the same device or the same name with the person who invited them.
Refunds and cancellation
13.1. You may request a full refund within 14 days of the date of payment, provided you have accessed less than 20% of the course. After 14 days, once 20% or more of the course has been accessed, or once a certificate has been issued, no refund applies, except where the law requires one. Refund requests should be sent to info@trident-academy.com with the order number. Approved refunds are made to the original payment method.
13.2. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law that applies to you.
Availability of the Website
14.1. We aim to keep the Website available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may interrupt access for maintenance, updates or reasons beyond our control.
14.2. You need a suitable device and internet connection, at your own cost.
Limitation of liability
15.1. The courses are for general education and training. Please read the disclaimers in the Legal Notice, in particular:
(a) safety-related courses are theoretical and do not replace certified practical training; and
(b) law courses explain legal texts and are not legal advice.
15.2. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
(a) decisions you or your employer make, or actions taken, on the basis of course content;
(b) indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue or opportunity; or
(c) interruptions or loss caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
15.3. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount paid for that order.
15.4. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
Changes to these Terms
16.1. We may update these Terms. The updated version will be published on the Website with a new "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will inform registered users by email or on the Website.
16.2. The Terms in force at the time of your order apply to that order.
Language
17.1. These Terms are available in English, Portuguese and French. If there is any inconsistency between the versions, the English version prevails.
Governing law and disputes
18.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the applicable federal laws of the United Arab Emirates. This does not deprive consumers of the protection given to them by the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.
18.2. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, without prejudice to any mandatory right of consumers to bring proceedings in their country of residence.
18.3. Before starting any formal procedure, please contact us at info@trident-academy.com so that we can try to resolve the matter amicably.
